Yes operation sealion could have worked.. 'maybe'.
The army certainly could have put several divisions on the beaches of southern england if ordered to do so. And could have dropped the Fallschirmjäger behind brit lines. It was never a question that this could not be done .. But a question of supplying them and reinforcing.
It all revolved around the question of the brit 'home fleet'
Could the luftwaffe sink it even combined with a suicide attack by the kriegsmarine. Hitler obviously had doubts.. thus it never happened.
My take. Give me command and i think i can give 90% success
chance. I;d lose all the kriegsmarine
[ Scharnhorst, Gneisenau ,Deutschland, Lützow, Admiral Scheer, Hipper, Blücher, Prinz Eugen,Königsberg, Karlsruhe, Köln, Leipzig, Nürnber and maybe 20 to 30 DD;s all gone] and half the luftwaffe ~1000 ac but i get england. A very good deal.
