My own site, Everything Under the Moon, deals with spells and magick. I was into witchcraft for a short time, but after discovering the New Age movement, I started to understand more about energy and intent. I know now that spells work (when they work) because of the energy and intent behind them. I believe that prayer works in the same way. As for all the pomp and circumstance surrounding magic spells, I think all of that is just a prop to get your energy in a place where you can focus it on what you want. It's easier for some people to believe they will get their goal if they have to chant something, burn a candle, and pray to the Goddess. And many former Christians (which is what the majority of witches are - disillusioned Christians) have a difficult time giving up the concept of God/Goddess. It seems they would rather have many than none. I personally believe in a Universal Energy moreso than a "god", though I tend to still it "God" for lack of a better term.
I am open to different belief systems and am not offended by most paths, so it doesn't bother me to run a witchcraft site even if my beliefs have evolved into something different over the years. I think witchcraft is still a great way to pull people away from Christianity and other Bible-based religions, which I believe are harmful to women and humankind in general. Violence towards women will never end as long as we continue worshipping and promoting an all-male God, his male son, and the non-gendered Holy Spirit. Of course, Jews and Muslims also serve a male God. So many women are willing to ignore what the Bible says about them or pretend that it is no longer relevant in this day and age. Take a look around the world and you will clearly see that many people take the Bible very literally. Women are tortured, abused, and murdered daily due to the erroneous beliefs that men have learned from the Bible. So even though you may not believe that it affects you personally (even though it does in ways that you don't realize), you should be aware that it's not just about you. Religion as we know it needs to be done away with. It is destructive and abusive. Women will never be fully equal as long as our "god" is a male. Please read "Abusing Women is Not Religion" and give me your take on those issues if you do not think the Bible is harmful to women. I would really love to hear a Christian's perspective on that article. Acharya S. is a good friend of mine and the author of two great books on religion. Her blog is filled with similar articles, so if you enjoy that one, be sure to check out her blog or her site, Truth Be Known.

I agree with everything you say Heather My beliefs entirely. I believe also that we can find the answers to everything within ourselves, if only we just look. |

I don't believe in Spells either. I think it is just your mind giving you the idea of anything happening. You wish to believe it so much that you make it real. _________________ To live is to learn to Die. |

lol, do you believe in black holes? (not you you, everyone who said they don't believe in spells). The point is that we believe automatically in some things and not in others, but in the end, they reality is just a matter of point of view.
i think the spells are just a way to concentrate you energy, nothing more. You can achieve something with spell, ritual ,meditation or just the modern writing, planing and following trough schemes. _________________ Spirituality vs. Science |

| Nah, some of it seems bogus, at least. TIme traveling for example, I doubt you'd see the exact events of things from the past in your mind. |
